Dr. Phylistine Murphy

Dr. Phylistine Murphy is the Principal of Hope Excel Reaching the World Academy. Dr. Murphy earned her Bachelor of Science in Education Degree (BSEd) from the Loyola University of Chicago, her Master of Education Degree (M.Ed) from Erikson Institute of Chicago (Loyola University), and her Doctor of Education Degree (Ed.D.) from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Dr. Murphy is committed to improving school systems in an effort to raise the bar of education and close the cognitive gap for disenfranchised youth.

Dr. Murphy was the youngest African American female superintendent in the State of Illinois. Her most recent accomplishments are Successful completion of $21 M construction project – Proviso Math & Science, Authored and awarded $4.3 M competitive grant- Proviso Youth & Family Consortium, Developed and implemented employee orientation program to decrease turnover and grievances, Implemented LAN Network to support the technological need of disinvested youth staff and communities. Letters of Recognition, from President Barak Obama, Excellence in Education from the Hezekiah and Mazzie L. Davis Foundation, and The Civic Award for Improving the School District from The Bellwood Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Dr. Murphy’s relentless efforts continue to be instrumental in improving the quality of life of students and their families.
